Hydraulic (Hydro) seeding is an alternative option for lawn establishment, brown fields to green fields or commercial application to sodding or natural seeding. Hydro-seeding is the spray application of a complete seeding mixture that includes the following components: Seed blend, fertilizer, lime, bonding mulch, and water. While all the ingredients for establishment are included in the application, much of the success of hydro seeding is determined by the seed variety. Specifically, uniformity of converge, visual impact and weed control is impacted by germination rate of seed, its rate of populating, natural protectants and aggressive nature of the seed.
Hydro-seeding with RTF® Water Saver grass seed include a number of beneficial factor, especially as it applies to summer application. RTF® Water Saver germinates in 8 days or less, and it is the most shade, drought and pest tolerant of northern cool season grasses.
RTF® Water Saver is also a self-repairing turf that populates quickly and produces rhizomes that fill in bare spots. A rhizome is an underground stem that penetrates laterally through the soil to spread the plant. Rhizomes send shoots up to the soil surface while extending new roots downward, forming a new plant.
